About Us

Supporting the community and building sustainable food-chains is not difficult; doing so just requires a different perspective.

Whenever possible, we chose to use ingredients and develop recipes that utilize the natural gifts of the Kawartha region. We work closely with producers in our community.

Lisa Dixon

Owner Lisa Dixon is a renowned specialty dessert artist and chef. Lisa opened Black Honey Desserts Coffee and Catering in 2005 in the scenic Hunter Street Cafe District of downtown Peterborough. Locally owned, Lisa is determined to source produce and meats locally, bringing the Kawarthas seasonally rich and diverse farm fresh foods to all of your special events. Buying local is so important to Black Honey as it represents so much more than healthy living. For Lisa it’s about family, love and giving back to the community you live in. Even after a decade of business operation you will often see Lisa working her magic right in the front lines. She loves all aspects of her business; barista, brewing up that glorious morning coffee, baking daily fresh bread and scones, cooking up a big turkey dinner for guests in the country and meeting new and old clients for custom wedding cakes and catering events. Lisa is also an avid supporter of theatre and the arts. When Lisa is not whipping up something delicious in the bakery or driving around town setting up and working events you will be sure to find her with her partner Mark and three kids!
